Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Life's a bugger for throwing curve balls, but hopefully you'll get some satisfaction from seeing this come together (I'd say the end result is really rather special - although not as special as those tights!).

Snatched a few mins and a loan of a mate after dropping lids at school and finally got my doors back on.
Windows on left door aren’t actually smaller, there’s still some masking tape on the glass from when I painted them.

Coolhands - you can just see to the right of that pic, the bridge over the pond and the remains of what used to be the path in front of the old sheds. When the weather turns that will be the first job, to re-lay the path from the bridge, along the front of the shop, to join up with the main patio which is just off to the left of the pic. There will be two small planting beds under the windows for softening the transitions and the York stone path across the front and up to the doors. Well at least that's the plan...

I was going to suggest some window boxes
On a serious note I think a woody inspired weather vane would top that roof off nicely.
When we lived in Altrincham we found a blacksmith somewhere in the cheshire countryside who made a vane to our design for my father. Wish I could remember where it was but I am sure any decent blacksmith would knock one up for you.

There was a man who lived by the old water works (was also a Motor Museum for a few years) in Moldsworth Nr Chester, who did wind vanes. It is many years since I got one from him and I have no idea if he is still doing them.

Drive past them every day, they're on the Holmes Chapel to Knutsford road just outside Knutsford. Always looks interesting.
Week off work this week to get stuff done and hopefully smash the back of the remaining workshop work.
Fitted a adhesive privacy screen to a bathroom window yesterday so after nearly 2 years people can no longer see you sat on the bog as they walk up the path!
Cleared out the mezzanine and had a tidy then finishing off the plasterboarding on the mez ceiling. Soon as that’s done I’ll paint the floor up there then start moving the timber in from the container.

Another day in the ‘shop today. Got the mez ceiling boarded out and another coat of paint on it to clean up the scuffs. Painted the floor of the mez white too. Didn’t need to but seeing screws on the OSB was a ballache, and I have about 25 litres of white left over so thought I might as well.
Cleared some crap away, repurposed an unwanted ikea chest of drawers from the daughters bedroom as short term storage option and got some flooring mats down.
Light is beginning to show at the end of the tunnel...

Moved a few more bits in with some help yesterday.
Just going out now to move a load of timber over into the Mez to make space in the container to the. Look at moving over the big toys (P/T, bandsaw, tablesaw).

Finally, a day when my mate was free and I had mojo! Didn’t take any photos as we moved but finally got the big machines from the container on the right...

All machines (DX, TS, BS & PT) all on rolling bases so used a half sheet of MDF as a ramp down from the container, 2 sheets of 1” thick T&G ply across the gravel, 2 sheets of 18mm play on the patio then used two long thin sheets of 6mm ish MDF to get over the grass, picking up the rear one and moving ahead as we went.
Then similar ply arrangement over shop threshold to see-saw them through the door.
Only took the two of us about 30-40 mins to move all 4.
Time to check the casualties of the kit being in a container on the driveway for over 3 years...
I waxed all tables before putting them in the container but clearly missed some other areas...
Small amount on fine surface orange on the TS, will sand off no issue.
Nothing on the BS but the PT is another matter...
I waxed the tables and they are fine but I think a cardboard box was resting on that top edge and looks like a little damp has held in it over the years a eaten my PT edge, the corners of the tables and the block! I’m sure it’ll all clean up okay but more work than I had hoped would be required.
Now comes the bigger task of organising the shop so I can actually do something in there...

Haha, yeah it's a bit of a squeeze at the moment for sure.... Timber needs to go up into the Mez, there's a load of crap on the floor and old insulation offcuts (some of which will be used on the Mez to cover the RSJ but most will be offered for free on Facebook or disposed of) that needs sorting, disposing of or finding space for in whatever storage solution I go with.
Hoping to get a bit of time today so will try and shift some of the timber and clear some space.
