What I Made On My Holiday...

While I was in Brittany with my still-to-be-finished travel tool chest, I made a pair of boxes (both of which still need finish to be applied):



One is very similar to a tea caddy I made for my OH for her birthday; this one's intended to hold Earl Grey tea leaves and will be a present for my Mum:







The other box (out of sweet chestnut and some unknown wood that might or might not be teak) has no pre-planned purpose at the moment:







More photos to follow once I've applied the finish (which will probably be MMM for the drawer box and mineral oil for the tea caddy).

From the picture I would have guessed that the unknown wood to be mahogany.

Not sure you have fully grasped what is supposed to happen on a holiday though :lol: .

It is also an extremely bad strategy to allow wives to find out that you can do anything, even with minimal kit, and are willing to give up crucial relaxing and beer time to do so. Get a grip man

I don't think I'll ever get to the bottom of it to be honest. I've posted various photos here and on the other place and every set of photos has resulted in a different consensus (including mahogany, teak and greenheart).

The drawer box will probably get Mike's Magic Mix (as its my default for most things). The tea caddy will just get mineral oil as I don't want anything that could risk affecting the tea aroma.
