• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. My current refurb project of an old try plane is making progress but I've discovered that the chipbreaker will need a considerable amount of work to bring it up to snuff:

It's well out of square at both ends, but more worryingly, the threaded bolt is now very loose in the brass insert. I could fix the actual chipbreaker itself but the bolt/thread combo is beyond my measly metal bashing capabilities. Does anyone have a 2.5" (64mm) wide woodie chipbraker which is surplus to requirements? TIA - Rob

Edit - problem fixed, no need for a replacement

I had a delve into my taps tin and found I had an M10 tap so I drilled out (8.4mm drill) the old smaller thread in the cap iron (MikeG) and made a larger M10 metric thread. I also found in my bolts box a round head M10 Allen bolt so the whole thing is now much firmer:

One side of the cap iron (MikeG😁) was also about 2-3mm wider than the cutter (arrowed) and both ends were a long way off square, so 20 minutes work with a large bastard file brought everything tickety boo. Still a bit of shaping to do at the blade end followed by some final cleaning up with emery cloth etc - Rob
