• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

My wife has just found that an unauthorised payment of a £1 had been paid from her online bank account to the above company!

Looking at their web it says they are working on behalf of their online partners.
It also opens with a page to get a refund and cancel subscriptions.
My wife is adamant that she hasn't bought or paid for anything online recently so how can they get a payment from her bank?
It seems highly suspicious, puzzling and worrying?

She's not registered recently with Paypal or similar? Companies sometimes take a £1 'deposit' which is then refunded once the account is activated or confirmed.

Could be that or similar. Think of any and all registrations or subscriptions etc she might have taken out recently.

Cheers

I'm wondering if it may be a scam site.

They may have emailed you telling you of a deduction but none was made. just a trick to get you to input real info.

site was registered only recently and with go daddy. Would a genuine financial institution use go daddy?

and there is no contact details with a real address and phone number. King road on the registration - what?

Too many things point to a scam for my liking.

I'd check with the bank and ignore the email for now. If no deduction continue to ignore it.

No PayPal account nor bought anything online except some theatre tickets.

Their blurb says do not contact your bank about it as it may incur criminal charges for default but tomorrow my wife is going to

Then it's definitely a scam of some kind.

Yes I think it is - I cannot find much about it on the web?
But what triggered it off and where did they get my wife's bank details from - if she buys stuff online it's generally by Credit Card?

Rod

KT7 0XA gives Portsmouth Road, Thames Ditton, Surrey, not King's Road, London. Looks like info supplied to go-daddy is also false - contact your bank asap and get them to replace the card and deactivate the existing one, as well as checking other and current transactions.

This scam has become more widespread - now featured in the Papers.
It seems, despite promises, nobody gets their money back!
