• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

image.jpgimage.jpgHi all,
I’m looking to install some bathroom wall panels as part of a renovation I’m doing. I’ve removed the old tiles but the wall is in a really poor state. The panels are designed to be glued to the wall with a fancy adhesive but any tips on how to prepare this crumbling plaster so that the adhesive holds? Coat of PVA or a specific primer?

Battening out the wall is another potential option but in my past experience it didn’t give as good an end result as touching the shower panels between the studs sounded like a drum.
Thanks!

I'll be interested to see where this goes, as well.

For the alterations to my bathroom, the guys stuck these panels tight on to the existing tiles.

Would it be daft just to tile the wall with the cheapest biggest tiles for a substrate?

I must admit that I’m slightly kicking myself for removing the old tiles as that is a legitimate installation method. But from where I’m at now it would be the same issue of adhesion with the tile adhesive on the old walls. A screwed-in backer board might be an option?

Faced with a similar problem in our house I used some of this stuff, which looks like it could be what you need

Yes, I was going to get some cement based panels but was very glad to find these instead. Lightweight and easy to cut but waterproof and stiff.

That’s brilliant, thanks so much Andy! I couldn’t find those locally today but found an equivalent product in Wickes which have gone up very quickly and easily :)
