• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

What do you guys get when you try and access their website ? britishairways.com

I get

Tried three different browsers. Same result which suggested corrupt DNS server. So changed from the ISP's default to Google's...same problem. Changed again to CloudFlare just in case the ISP's default was also Google. Same problem.

I cleared cache and britishairways cookies between each test.

Perplexed, am I.

Using Brave on an Apple Macbook I get the BA page with ability to start entering dates etc. Not that I would normally choose BA and I try to avoid flying not because I dislike it but I do hate being treated worse than cattle at airports.

Rog, had similar issue awhile back looking for a video, kept on defaulting to Spanish / Portuguese.
Deleted all cookies and re-started laptop.

When I access the BA website, it appears in German because of my location, but it is easy to change. I see the URL in your browser is the German version. You can manually change the "de_de" to "en_gb" or use the website's function to change the location and language.

BA-1.png

Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the language and location link in the bottom right corner.

BA-2.png

A new window will open with pull down menus for location and language. If yours is still in German, click on the Land/Region and scroll down to "Vereinigtes Königreich".

BA-3.png

The Sprache (language) should automatically change to English. Click the "Change" icon and the site should be the UK version and the cookies updated in your browser.

Something must be going on with the web browser and/or tool used to access.
On my Samsung android phone with chrome browser I get the Uk website

on the Imac with Firefox I get the french site which is suffering from high demand and unobtainable

Both phone and imac are using the same WIFI. Phone is french on french network too.. Most odd

Edit:
The Ipad on Safari defaults to Spain!! And if I connect via a VPN (dedicated UK IP) it still defaults to Spain.

I don't even get that far. Translating it says they've got high demand. Bet they're under a DDoS attack or similar.

Opera on Android on EE - defaults to UK site, no problem.

Firefox on Android on GiffGaff - German ! This is crazy.

Why would you ever want to access BA? Once really good, questionable now - Rob
Simple. I have many, many Avios. Plus with the new house purchase I've finessed it and now we have a Companion voucher which gives another seat for now (other than tax). Club class to Japan next year with a bit of luck. What's not to like ? Always enjoyed BA anyway.

JAL for us to Japan next year to see the cherry blossom. More spendiferous than BA but IMO worth it and a better flight experience - Rob

Edit - we've done BA to Japan some years ago and JAL is simply better...don't ask my why, but it is

Roger, have you done this trip before as a reward flight? They go extremely quickly, even with the additional inventory. Often requires the phone up at 1am (12am GMT) trick at 355 days to secure seats.

Yes we have..several times. How does the return flight work given the timescales?

I've not tried it myself, and my second hand info is at least five years old, but it used to be the case that you'd call up 355 days before the outbound and book it, then call again 355 days before the return, tell them that you want to add a return journey that wasn't on sale when you made the booking, and they'd be able to do it.

It wouldn't surprise me if this turned out to be one of those processes that got enhanced away over the years. If you're thinking of trying it, I'd probably have a look at some of the considerably more up to date resources on the BA forum at flyertalk.com to see whether it's still possible.

Roger, as spd describes.

Another option, if you have enough Avios is to book the inbound online at 7am and call to merge the bookings, but there is the risk that all reward inventory will have gone, taken by the early/late birds on popular routes.

As spd says, flyertalk is a great resource, and there is a dedicated thread for 241s on the BA board.

Thanks both. Will investigate
