• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    Spindle cutters query

I use the same setup when possible Mike. Very handy combining the 125mm rebate block with the 96mm spindle block to obtain the correct rebate combo. Speeds up the machine time too when you can stack them together, not sure if the combo works on my Kity spindle due to spindle projection but it...

    Spindle cutters query

That's interesting Mike, I did not give that a thought: Below on the right is a 10mm ovolo cutter intended for a spindle moulder block (noemal run) middle is a cutter also for a 10mm ovolo but it is narrower so it can be stacked with a 125mm rebate block to produce a mould and rebate in one...

    Spindle cutters query

Hi all got these cutters from ebay a long while back and not used them yet I made the purchase on impulse as I just decided to stock up on my cutter rang. They seem to be cutters and limiters, limiters on the left as they are slightly smaller and cutters on the right. edit: Just noticed that...

Post a photo of the last thing you made...

As a Carpenter/Joiner I mainly come across softwoods and now MDF has crept in to take it's place for skirtings and architraves etc. Sapele veneer used to be very popular for flush doors in the 1980. Reproduction furniture made from mahogany was very popular around the 1980's also. I did...

    Sticking wood glazing bars

Yes I could not quite see how the water woud run out either but it could through the top of the mortice. I looked at an explanation of the standard many years ago (about 15-20 years ago) and it is likly to have changed somewhat now. When I was younger I used to do more joinery having made...

    Sticking wood glazing bars

Bradshaw says he does vent both top and bottom sashes on the bottom rails through the sash via the groove he makes, he talks about the water draining out at 18:51. Bradshaw states the half round drain cut just below the D/G unit is there to collect any water that penetrates the sash. Bradshaw...

    Clock - Done

Nice little project this, the clock does not have a pointer to when Prosecco time actually is so assume it any time you want or have I missed something?

    Sticking wood glazing bars

Bradshaw makes some very good videos the system he shows in this video is a dry glazing system which needs to be vented with drain holes (which he has done). Bradshaw applies the beads on the internal side of the sash rather than the more traditional method of fixing external beads. I don't...

New table saw (UK)….. that is the question

Don't know if it's been mentioned but one of these might be worth a look: Powerful motor and better depth of cut than a table saw. A cast bench saw with sliding table would be my go to for a workshop (but new is out of the £500 budget), instead of a bench saw a site saw is ok if used in a...

    Sticking wood glazing bars

Just joined and tried it out, I took a look at BS 8000 Glazing but could not read it online it says only available to view on library premises. Still a good resource, thank you.

    Sticking wood glazing bars

I have installed double glazed units in wood windows before (many times) but not installed stuck on beads hence the question. For the units I installed I used a butyl tape and vented the unit so no water got trapped. Low modulus neutral cure Silicone with fully filled rebates is another option...

    Sticking wood glazing bars

At first it does sound like you might be cheating but it actually seems to be very good advice. Nice to have your view on the subject also.

    Sticking wood glazing bars

Thank you for what you have said and your time in doing so, it is really helpful. I, like you, have started to come to the conclusion that allowing a very slight gap at the scribes so the tape can lay flat and so adheres fully is perhaps the best way to go and then lightly filling the small...

    Sticking wood glazing bars

Hi all just wonder what people use to stick on the glazing bars of a sash window? I have never made a double glazed sash or window that has needed glazing bars stuck on before just a few modern windows & sashes with deep 57mm sections with glazing bars around the perimeter that I could nail...

    Chairs - Done!

I must say I like the design of the chair with all the curves especially on the back, what a nice shape to catch the eye. I have made a few free standing cabinets park benches etc over the years but only one chair and it took me by surprise just how many angles there are in the joints just about...

Just probing, anyone on this forum in Peterborough area that makes sliding sash windows?

Hi all I have been asked to look at some sliding sashes in Peterborough but think it might turn out too far from my area and be too much work for my setup. Is there anyone on this forum who works in or around Peterborough that has facilities to make sliding sash windows/sashes? Give me a PM if...

Daughters Kitchen final stages Handles and floor now done.

Sorry it took me so long to get back Duke, I've been a bit busy. Anyway the sink is a composite made from quarts and acrylic, you can also obtain the same in granite. My daughter wanted a double bin unit under the sink which was a very tight to fit under the sink unit. A one and a half bowl...
