• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

If there was one hand tool which you would like to see made again.

Definitely agree with the Compass plane suggestion. Also Yankee screwdrivers - they are brilliant for working with slot screws (though you can get something very similar new) My suggestion would be spoon bits. The ones that fit yankee screwdrivers are great for creating pilot holes. Larger...

"Centering the past" a project of timber frame time travel.

I went on the intro day at the hewing event and thoroughly enjoyed it. I can highly recommend these events.

Richard Maguire aka The English Woodworker

I really like his videos and found them particularly useful when I built my workbench.

Where/How best to sell HiFi separates?

I've sold quite a few Hi-Fi separates through The Art of Sound site (https://theartofsound.net). However, I don't think it is as popular as it used to be. But as @SimonB suggests, Hi-Fi forums is a good place to sell Hi-Fi.

    Smoked, safety reading glasses

Getting some prescription safety glasses a couple of years ago was one of my better ideas. Probably my most use "tool". Mine are varifocal which suit me well.

    Linseed Oil Paint

I got some Linseed Oil Paint samples from Earles (https://www.earlespaint.co.uk). I've only used it on one small project so far, but was easy to apply and I am pleased with the finish.

Finished the day off making a smaller chisel wacker.

You've got to like a home made bangy stick

    Any UNIX guru's here ?

It's saying that three sessions have been deleted. What were you doing? What program or script were you using. Without that information you are doing the IT equivalent of giving a woodworker a stick and asking why it doesn't work in your project without telling them what the project is or what...

    Shinto rasp

Rasps are funny things. When you use a good one it just feels wonderful - cuts easily and you feel perfectly in control. But they cost a fortune. I have a Auriou rasp and it is a joy to use. One day I may well raid my wallet and buy a couple more. I also have a Liogier rasp which is nice, but...

    Carlton Scroop 12th April

I didn't make it to this one. Thank you for the pictures. I really enjoyed the last one. I'm glad it went well and looking forward to getting there again in the future.

What is it with the Fairer sex and soft furnishings?

Absolutely - though Jeff had the best lines. "Home and away breasts" being a particular favourite.

    Bosch Routers

Yes, but even small bits have max. speed that it a lot less than 33,000.

    Bosch Routers

For me the Bosch Router question is why doesn't the GKF 600 have a speed control. 33,000 seems too fast for most bits.

    Coming along spendidly!

    Chair Steps Project

That modification to the Stanley No. 271 looks rather splendid, as does the rest of this project.

Love the use of coloured dots

    Timber framing

And why the only joints that appear to be pinned? But those brace are at the top which makes more sense surely.

    Another tool chest

But I can't help thinking I'd want lockable castors on it. Lovely bit of work though.
