• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    The Accidental Woodworking Club

Id place a bet that they will come with their own ideas.. My ladies shedders do that. I don't worry about materials or ideas they come full of enthusiasm and energy! Often they send men's shed stuff back to the finishing school! A stool or tote is a good first project. Also an apprentice...

    Trading Wherry 'Lady Garnet'

Also try large estates - Chatsworth, Blenheim, Duchy of Cornwall etc. They have large oaks on their estates which may come down from time to time and probably have in-house foresters.

Mike builds a teardrop (doors, cedar strips, ironmongery)

Take it easy.... You think your back to strength nut half an hour in the workshop and you feel it. I had a trip to a+e too, infection in my hand and arm on Saturday ooh GP appointment and antibiotics prescribed. (Mild flu like symptoms and redness tracking up my arm) Nice day yesterday...

I might have missed something but why the 1"boards for the middle two planks? Would it not be simpler to use 2" boards across width?

That sounds crazy and a waste of energy. If it's air dried in France then surely it will be pretty dry esp if it's waggoned over here and then stored in a dry wood shed.

Ian’s new workshop. The Wonky Donkey’s Walls, an inspiration.

I did a similar bodge. I had a load of used plasterboard which I laid over hardcore to prevent the dpm being perforated!

    Nailing Feather Edge Horizontally

I would simply fix in the middle of each board. This allows it to move either side of the nail. But you could nail the feather edge tightly and then drill the thick edge slightly oversize to allow for movement??

Great work! If wedged down they need pegging?

What type of joints should I use for this fish tank stand?

I would just screw it together tbh. The outer uprights will support the weight.
