• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

Coming up soon on the 8th August is this little event which was a huge success last year.
11am till 4pm
Anyone fancy a bit of a jolly?
Don't forget to bring the family.

This is without doubt a truly hidden gem with a wheelwrights shop and blacksmiths forge run by a team of enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers.

Some may have heard of Chedham's Yard as it "won" a TV series called "Restoration" and was duly restored in what I can only describe as the most sympathetic of ways, so much so you would be hard pressed to know the difference, apart from the fact it's not collapsed in a heap on the floor from the subsequent ravages of time. A particular aspect I enjoy about this is the "in the rough" nature of the workshops, no glass cases and fancy pants lighting here.....

So to the point, there is, once again, a gathering of like minded folks attending and displaying woodworking related tools etc. for one of their special open days and it would be wonderful if we could get a few extra visitors to come and drop by.

Richard Arnold has organised this and he will have his usual eclectic display of early woodworking tools, joined by Bill and Sarah Carter, Tim Smith (top quality tool maker and restorer) and for the first time at this event I'll be bringing some of my collection for your perusal.
There is no admission charge and on street parking is not far away.

So, I hope I've whetted your appetite enough to get you to pop by and please understand this is equally of interest to the whole family and not just the woodworker of the house.

Part of the "restoration" project was the installation of a timber framed tea room for drinks cakes etc.set in a delightful cottage garden environment.

I've provisionally stuck it in the diary; will begin negotiations :)

Makes a nice change to see a woodworking related thingamabob that isn't a long long way away.
 
I've fancied visiting there since I first heard you enthusing about it and this event sounds like the ideal time to make the effort.
So now it's in the diary and I'll do my best!
 
Just a note on parking.
There is nothing down the lane past the Staggs Head pub and if that area is full (often is) just a little way up the road is Wellesbourne community centre and sports field.
Alongside the field is a stretch free parking as you turn in by the Co-op.
It's a very short walk to the yard from there.
