Hi all. The pics show a rough sawn board which surfaced while cleaning out the timber storage area - from right in a at the back. It's been in there for about 30 years. I have no recollection whatsoever as to what it might be.
I'd appreciate some help with identification of the species.
It's clearly darkened quite a lot by now, and is probably a tiny shade redder than in the pics. It's definitely a hardwood. The close up shows an area planed to expose fresh wood.
I'd presumed from a distance that it was oak, but it doesn't look much like it. It could be elm (I had some back then), but I'm a bit thrown by the red tint and anyway can't clearly remember the detail of what it looked like.
Thanks
