Hi all
Apologies for not weighing in on this sooner but I've had a busy few days and intended to post this much sooner.
Right, first thing to address, and one that clearly nobody has noticed, is that the decision was taken to listen to your feedback on the editing time and remove it completely. This was done on Tuesday and as such is no longer a thing!
As has been mentioned many times, there is a concern that someone can/could remove all their content so we want to protect this, not for commercial/monetisation reasons, but to protect the rich variety and quality much of the content here for the benefit of the majority.
We are all about the balance between democracy of the membership (because we want happy posters posting lots of interesting stuff) but while trying to protect that 'stuff' for everyone to see. We'll work on the basis that we're all on the same page and nobody is going to spit their dummy and go on a deletion rampage. If someone did then we would obviously need to look at this again but let's hope that is but a nightmare we never have to contemplate!
So there, it is no longer on the list because it's gone, and went on Tuesday lunch time, so edit to your hearts content!
Regarding the pics per post, there is an argument to both sides, and I mentioned this in a post a while back. Ideally I would like everyone to post their pics as thumbnails and allow me to expand them to view. That's how I like to do it, and it loads the pages much quicker that was, but again that was immediately countered by some people who didn't like that idea...
As the old adage goes, 'You can please all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time...'.
We'll have a look at the picture count but where do we stop, 20/50/100... I don't want to see a page with 100 pics on, and have to have that load up every time I want to see that thread. I know that's an extreme, but again it's about balance. We'll have a look and sort that soon.
Finally, to pick up on Adrian's comment, Alasdair has not taken over anything, but he is an admin the same as me for obvious reasons, and has had more time than me to respond in the past couple of weeks, nothing more than that.
All of the outstanding issues, bugs, features etc that are listed have been discussed in a Mod only board and over WhatsApp and nothing has been done without either my, or collective agreement. Nothing has changed in terms of ethos or management, but obviously we all have different tones and styles of language.
Fear not, nothing has changed, we're all aligned (albeit often along my personal timeline which is beholden to my busy lifestyle) and hopefully with this editing carbuncle removed from our collective bottoms we are all sitting a little more comfortably and can get back to watching Mike build his house.
Have a fabulous day everyone, I've got some actual paid work to do now. Cheers.
