Already done; of no use to me but the 6mm birch ply that it's made from is useful

The LP's had been languishing in the loft for over twenty years so I sold them to a second hand record shop in town. There were actually two boxes, one of which my dad made for his classical collection in 1960....that one I have kept - Rob

I sold 30+ LPs from the 70s and 80s just a few months ago. Nothing special just the pop of the time, Beatles, Queen, Abba, Dire Straits, ELO etc. in mint condition only got £100 as a job lot. Sold an old Sony HiFi seperates system as well for £120. Sold very quickly on Facebook. They'd all been in the loft for 30 years.
I'd contacted a couple of deatlers who offered me far less.

I sometimes wonder why I keep mine, Genesis, Floyd, Led Zep, Bowie, Dire Straits, Stones, Springsteen, Queen, etc most now duplicated on CDs and transferred to USB sticks for the cars and on my phone. Hifi separates not seen the light of day since we moved here, 19 years ago.

My speakers (on stands) and amp + CD player were packed up and moved into the loft last year when I redecorated the lounge. They'll be replaced on Black Friday with a pair of Amazon 'clever' Echo Studio speakers using the Amazon Music Unlimited subscription - Rob

I still ply records on my turntable although cd do see more action.
The tv is connected to the HiFi so it sounds very good.
I won’t be getting rid of it or downsizing any time soon.

Job done. Taken a while, but I'm pleased with the results.



I did say I was going to make two Oak and Two tulipwood bases. But, the second Tulipwood blank cupped, and straightening it on the planer and/or drum sander would have reduced thickness too much. And the Oak, although it cupped a bit, the cutter tip left a burn mark around the bottom of every recess, so I decided to make two from the offcuts of Birch ply I bought in Wiltshire. It really is nice stuff.

Finished off a pair of beehive floors.
Profiles done on the tablesaw and sourced from offcuts and skip-forage but I had to actually BUY the metalwork

Dependant on the forage available in the particular year and dependant on occupancy of the kit.
Also dependant on an encyclopedia of other factors
60kg was our absolute worst year ,480 was the best.
This year has been a disaster so far but in the last fortnight they've brought it back somewhat.

It’s probably a good job that the bees aren’t good at stock control, or once they’d made enough to last them through the winter (am I right in thinking that?) they might stop work and have a rest.

In our South facing back door porch we have a small window (as part of the larder) and tiled sloping window cill, which is usually cluttered with all sorts of gardening junk:



...so I decided to make a small unit to contain most of it, the rest going into the recently tidied up tool shed. It's made from odds n'sods of pine glued together with TB3, the pine being the last remnants of our old bedroom furniture, so it's pretty ropey stuff. After a couple of hours:



...it's screwed securely to the wall. I was going to use a secret mitred shovetail aka @Dr.Al for the top shelf and some fancy tapered sliding housing joint thingies for the other two, but it's too bloody hot and I couldn't be ar$d so it's all screwed together We also have out little grandson visiting next month and I'm mindful that all gardening stuff needs to be well out of reach of inquisitive little fingers - Rob

I was asked by a friend to make a trophy (to his design!) for his vintage car society. It’s awarded to whoever breaks down and needs a tow when they meet up.



It’s made from oak which I finished with a darkened wax oil to get a gothic look.

He’ll be finishing it with some metal discs that can be engraved and a couple of bits and pieces to identify the car manufacturer that they have in common!

A good exercise in use of the hand plane!

I wanted to avoid drilling a deep hole so the column is made of four pieces.



The angles were planed by handing using my No 6 and a sliding bevel for reference. I attached the piece being worked on along the edge of a scrap piece of ply using ds tape. The ply was long enough to clamp to the bench with the work piece just hanging over the edge. I was ready to put a screw into the ply to act as a planing stop but the ds tape coped admirably so it wasn't needed.

And all about the hook arrangement and how it relates to breaking down please?

I'd initially envisaged it as a solid block and you'd planed the sides - or possibly cut some at 45° on a table saw - and then planed. It makes sense now to make out of the pieces shown in your sketch with having to have a hole down the centre

I had some chunky offcuts left over from making the trophy - the size that I just cannot bring myself to throw away but will probably not use for a a long time - so I put them to good use and made a stool for my granddaughter …
