• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

I came across a Facebook Marketplace ad for a new Karcher K7 pressure washer for £67, and when I enquired was told that this was a promotion for a new online shop. These things are £330 to £500 ordinarily. I was linked to their website.

The business is based in Amesbury, near Salisbury. Does anyone have any experience of them, because, you know......things which are too good to be true, and all that...

A couple of pieces of information from the domain registration data: the domain was registered six days ago, using a Hong Kong-based registrar. The 'Registrant Country' field lists Cuba, and the 'Registrant State/Province' is 'sfwaf'.

In addition, the 'About Us' page on the website describes them as "We are the professional and trustworthy online fashion retailer", which doesn't match any of the supposed product listings. With everything added together this couldn't look more dodgy if it were trying to.

What's the scam they're doing here? Is it that you pay your money and nothing ever turns up? Or are they harvesting names and addresses for some financial scam? Or is it something else?

It’s got all the hallmarks of taking the money and no goods turning up. They’ll also sell your details on. They get collated by fraudsters who share data and are then sold on the dark web.

Unfortunately the tech firms don’t see it as their problem and needs better legislation to get their skin in the game.

A lot of the wording on the site is poor quality “boiler plate” which is another sign.

Mike, try researching camper vans on Facebook. It is astonishing how easy it is to spot the fraudsters. With vans, they are simply playing for much, much, bigger payoffs.
One anecdote circulating had a poor lad travel from Kent to Yawkshah to find empty space, no van, no dealer, no nuttin.

recently got a karcher K5 and it's more than good enough, it's 145 bar pressure so can highly recommend one, do you need the extra force of the K7? the K5 almost blasted me off the ground when I first used it lol got it from toolsation, they're still on offer right now.

Thanks Ben. No, I don't, I just happened to see the ad on Facebook, and it happened to be for the K7.

The prices always seem too good to be true, and it seems counterintuitive - one would suppose a more realistic price would be more effective, but I remember reading, years ago, that scammers want to filter in the most gullible punters from the outset, as it's less work for them.
Personally, I tend to report them, although I doubt is does much good.
