• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

    He's back!

For those of you with a creative streak, that man Claymore, a.k.a. Brian, the one with the hugely impressive intarsia, has just posted on UKWS, and my goodness, has he had it rough in the last five years...

    I know I shouldn't, but...

We're apolitical, and rightly so; ergo, I have no intention, wish, or inclination to even obliquely initiate a thread that might be viewed as 'taking a side'. But. May I please make a philosophical (and emphatically rhetorical) point? The world is in a poor place. It's scary. The Orwellian...

    It was published elsewhere, apologies.

Make what you want of this. I found it ironic, black humour at its best. Death in Israel Donald Trump goes on a fact-finding visit to Israel. While he is on a tour of Jerusalem, he suffers a heart attack and dies. The undertaker tells the American diplomats accompanying him, 'You can have...

Has anyone else used these perpetrators of criminological inexactitudes? Just had two separate verbal 'goes' at them this morning after trying - and repeatedly failing - over a full week, to get their appalling website to give me info.re the status of three repeat scrip meds. They lied in...

How to block 'news' about The Big Orange Baby.

May I please ask, is there a 'filter' one may apply to my (Handroyd) 'phone - or Da Beeb online news - that will screen out articles pertaining to the individual presently hell-bent on heating up our world? (And emulating one late Bavarian house painter with his apparently definitive land-grab...

    Ooh...dear deity

Greenland word war: "The US president-elect's son said he was going as a tourist on a "very long, personal, day-trip" Is it just me, or is the glaring oxymoron in this declaration just unacceptable hyperbole? I regard the individual concerned as a 47-year-old child, an ambulatory echo chamber...

    Otto Korwreckt.

This digital git is "doin' ma heid in". The number of times - for example - I type in "miles' only to see this one-testicle-wonder change it to "Miles"...Or, "Mike's"....and so on. Ad nauseam. Anybody got a surefire way of switching off this unwanted gramnatical going? I'm on Android, Chrome...

    Bread; makers, people or mechanical?

Good morning and Happy Weekend everyone. For pressing medical reasons (and increasing paranoia re a Reeves Raid on my pension), I am considering home baked sourdough (lots of WH2 refs). But, here's my conundrum: I have two food processors and a stonking big powerful mixer. Do I NEED a bread...

    Ahm Ai bovvered?

Sorry Vicky, couldn't resist it. Anyway, I sometimes drop into "t'other place" to remind myself what unleashed sophistry, lunar-cycle fomenting and general frothing at the keyboard looks like - and count myself lucky for the sanctuary that has been consolidated over here. I tried a quick...

Mad rush of blood to the head.

AndyT or Adidat might be able to answer this 'off the bat', but I utterly cannot find the answer anywhere: I am tempted to make a marking gauge, a la Wearing, but am NOT minded to employ the brass insert and thumb screw so beloved of 99.99998% of all makers posting on W.W.W.. I'd like to use a...

Is it just me, or has the Civil Service lost the plot?

I give you, dear Forumite, a photo of a letter purporting to tell me the new pension rate: Yours, baffled, Sam

I would just like to give thanks...

..for some reasonably transparent*, patient and prudent Moderators on this forum. I drop in occasionally to the forum-that-shall-not-be-named, hoping to shamelessly pilfer some ideas :| . Three days ago, that woke up some kind of 'bot', whereupon I was targeted by multiple begging emails...

Help! Does anybody remember this programme?

"Salvage Hunters, The Restorers" - which episode please? The insufferable D.P. presents Alex Webster (a.k.a. The Amiable Bodger) with a pedestal table that magically extends to seat forty...Orright, I exaggerate, but A.W. did make about four extra leaves for it, beacuse D.P. couldn't find the...

    Electrical switch question

This is for any electrical gurus out there. Bob9f springs to mind, but he's a busy fellow, so other contributors please feel free to chip in. The problem is from a 'Pacer' type train and the faulty item is the bimetallic(?) strip shown at the top of the unit. It's corroded and not...

I can't believe it! (Not Victor).

Farcebook has a selling wing, "Marketplace", hmm? One of the 'Chiglish' annotated ads, for E-bikes at £82 and £60 (Yeah, RIGHT!!!) has the following in its rubric: Now, I tend to read very literally. So, "you need to pay several times to succeed"...No S**t Sherlock/Shylock. I am utterly...
