• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

It's back!!

There was a general feeling that people spend too long on here, and that it would be healthy to have a break :D

Or it might have been an issue outside our server - but close in terms of the journey from our server to the internet which was hit but excessive traffic (DoS assumed), and there was no quick way to avoid it - it brought down a lot of servers... as a part of the solution, we had to move all our sites onto new IP addresses and that has for now fixed it...

Interestingly, even sites we have behind cloudflare (which attempts to normalise DoS attacks and keep sites running) were affected, so it was quite serious...

More seriously, reading between the lines of Alasdair's techno-speak, is it possible we had the modern equivalent of an email-bomb? Remember those? Where Denial of Service was achieved by 70,000 (or so) emails were generated and sent in 20 nanoseconds?

Yes, thanks to the team. Very slow loading today for some reason, even with cookies deleted and refreshed.

Pretty fast here, so it may be some other hangover from yesterday - which was apparently quite major and nearly took out Microsoft as well...
