• Hi all and welcome to TheWoodHaven2 brought into the 21st Century, kicking and screaming! We all have Alasdair to thank for the vast bulk of the heavy lifting to get us here, no more so than me because he's taken away a huge burden of responsibility from my shoulders and brought us to this new shiny home, with all your previous content (hopefully) still intact! Please peruse and feed back. There is still plenty to do, like changing the colour scheme, adding the banner graphic, tweaking the odd setting here and there so I have added a new thread in the 'Technical Issues, Bugs and Feature Requests' forum for you to add any issues you find, any missing settings or just anything you'd like to see added/removed from the feature set that Xenforo offers. We will get to everything over the coming weeks so please be patient, but add anything at all to the thread I mention above and we promise to get to them over the next few days/weeks/months. In the meantime, please enjoy!

A tad of mirth

My mobile phone kept calling me Shirley.

I couldn't work out why until I saw I'd left it in Airplane! mode.

I'll get my coat.

Have you ever tried blindfolded archery?

You don't know what you're missing.

Good one. Duly stolen ^^^

How many tickles does it take to make an Octopus laugh?

Ten tickles.

90% of bald people in the world still have a comb.

They just can't part with it.

I was rudely awaken this morning by 3 Man U fans playing football with a hedgehog outside my window!

I was outraged and shocked!

I was just about to ring the RSPCA, when the hedgehog went 1-0 up.

:D :D

We had a very long snake in the garden the other day. I measured it at a tad over 3.14 meters.

I think it was a Pithon

There are doors that just need a slight push and the motorised mechanism takes over. Useful for street facing doors where passing pedestrians would trigger it unnecessarily.
So perverse as it may seem the signage is sort of correct.

Now why should I have thought of @Mike G when I saw this :eusa-think:
It was labelled the apostrophe catastrophe

That must have been done deliberately to attract attention. Imagine how many other people have taken photos of that van.

Ian, I watch a fair amount of US sourced YouTube on various technical topic and it seems there zero use of adverbs eg "the motor ran just awesome" rather than "the engine ran awesomely". I'll ignore the use of "awesome" but it illustrates the point.
Are adverbs just not used in US speech and not taught in grammar lessons?

I'm surprised you got any recognition of "timber" rather than the very common used "lumber"

I think we may have to get Carruthers over to the states sometime

Bob

Don't know about adverbs, but particularly in the poor areas a large %age of children leave school unable to read and write, the teachers have a strictly laid out curriculum, today will be ........, and if you missed out on something like the basics well that's just tough.
Timber/ lumber yes it's just another thing I have to aclimate to lol. Aclimate, my pet hate of the moment.
I have seen a timber yard in the Uk use Lumber in relation to - I think whole logs/boles?

While shifting a piano at a coalmine near here it was accidentally dropped down the main access shaft. At the bottom during recovery a flat miner was found.
